Early Yorkshire Charters (pre-13th century)

A collection of documents based on the manuscripts of William Farrer, anterior to the 13th century, made from public records, monastic chartularies, Roger Dodsworth’s manuscripts and other available sources.

The Library holds c. 430 volumes published by the Society under various sub-series headings from 1909-2009. Examples of titles include: Lanfrank’s Science of Cirurgie; Aelfric’s Lives of Saints; Piers Plowman; The Lyfe of Syr Thomas More; and, Arthour and Merlin.  Most of its volumes are in Middle English or Old English; some have a modern English translation printed in parallel.
