Special Collections and Archives (SCOLAR)

SCOLAR aims to preserve, promote, and develop the University Library's historical and special research resources in order to support staff and postgraduate work and save their time with our enquiries services, to develop research collections to assist new research ventures, and to attract external scholars and grant aid to promote the research reputation of Cardiff University worldwide.

- Welsh Ballads Website
- SCOLAR will take part in a JISC-funded project to digitise Welsh ballads and provide access via an online, searchable catalogue.
- Work has begun to catalogue the Edward Thomas archive.
- The NMCT funded project to conserve Edward Thomas' letters and scrapbooks has been completed. Over 1000 letters have been conserved in acid free envelopes and 1200 pages of fragile newsprint have been digitised and converted to microfilm.
- SCOLAR has produced a set of 10 postcards to publicise its collections. These were distributed at the UK LILAC Conference in Cardiff, April 2009.
- SCOLAR initiated and supported an Institute of Civil Engineers' exhibition, hosted in the new Trevithick Library.
