I have spent most of my professional life as a law librarian, initially in a commercial law firm in Birmingham and then in Cardiff University.  I was first appointed here to set up the library and IT resources for the brand new Centre for Professional Legal Studies back in 1992. Between 1995 and 2000 I moved to the Arts & Social Studies Library as a subject librarian for Social Sciences and Psychology, and later European Studies.  Since then I have worked in law alongside my IL role. In 2008 the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) gave me the Wallace Breem award which is given for an outstanding contribution to the world of legal information, for the development of the OSCOLA referencing tutorial, used both here and in many other UK law schools. I was also honoured to receive, in 2009, the HE Academy's "National Award for the Teaching of Information and Computer Studies in Higher Education in Wales".

I have an MSc in Library and Information Studies from Loughborough University, where I also worked as a research assistant in the Library and Information Statistics Unit for a year.  I studied for my PGCE (FE/HE) in-service at Cardiff University, completing in 1998, and am a Fellow of the HE Academy.
