Storage advice

The need to store and manipulate information is essential to University business.

At University and School levels there are a wide range of options available for storing information and there is a requirement to balance Confidentiality with Availability and Integrity.

When storing information it is important that the medium used is selected knowingly and with full understanding of the risks as well as the benefits.

To assist in this regard the Information Security Framework (ISF) Programme has developed the Cardiff University Information Classification and Handling Guidelines.

If you are a researcher, please see our research data web pages. Also, for researchers completing information security questionnaires, the ISF web pages provide some useful answers and evidence.

If you require more general information on data storage please contact your Local Computing Representative or your insrvAssist contact.

All staff have a responsibility to take appropriate measures to protect the information they handle.
