Advanced Research Computing @ Cardiff (ARCCA)
A new division called Advanced Research Computing @ Cardiff (ARCCA) has been established to transform the support and coordination of high-end computing-based research at Cardiff University. Information Services Directorate works in close partnership with ARCCA to provide joined-up support across a huge range of research needs.
Advanced research computing is a hugely powerful technique which uses leading-edge IT resources and tools to pursue research, including computer simulation and modelling, manipulating and storing large amounts of data, and many other methods to solve common research problems. ARCCA provides
- supercomputing equipment and the Condor service,
and a wide range of related services including
- help and training with using the equipment, and
- advice on shaping relevant research grant proposals, in partnership with RACDV.
Research and Commercial Division (RACDV)
The Research and Commercial Division exists to support and facilitate the process of University-wide research, and the commercialisation of research outputs. The Division seeks to ensure that the process is consistently smooth and successful by providing a number of services, from assistance with research grant applications and managing research grants and contracts, to technology licensing, business development and other commercial opportunities.
