Assistive Technologies
Specialist software and equipment is located in the University's libraries and some IT rooms to assist disabled users.
Please note that priority use on computers with assistive equipment will always be given to users with a disability, and an IT support assistant will usually be on hand to give advice and guidance.
We recognise that everyone's situation is different, and we will therefore try to tailor support and provision to your individual needs. Training in the use of specific software can also be provided. Please contact a member of library staff so that we can assess your requirements and then work with you to provide a suitable environment.

* In addition to the assistive software provided by Information Services, users can also download freely available online software to use in their study, research or work. Please note that this software is not centrally supported by Information Services.
The majority of PCs in the University's Open Access work station rooms now run Windows 7. Windows provides Accessibility Options (Windows XP) and Ease of Access (Vista and Windows 7) which allow you to customise many aspects of PC use. These include changing the way your mouse and keyboard work and adjusting the settings of your display to enable high contrast or larger text on screen.
