Microsoft Publisher 2013: Comprehensive

Microsoft Publisher is a simple, yet powerful desk top publishing (DTP) application. Utilising the standard Microsoft Office interface but combined with in-built control over layout of printed pages this application is an ideal tool for designing and creating printed documents beyond the scope of a normal word-processor, e.g. posters and newsletters.

Topics Covered

This one day course provides a comprehensive overview of everything you need to be able to use Microsoft Publisher to create professional looking publications.

By the end of this course you will:

  • understand how page layout can be controlled by use of frames
  • be able to create complex page layouts, e.g. posters and brochures
  • be able to setup and use multiple column layouts for newsletters
  • be able to incorporate pictures and images into the overall layout of your publications

The latter part of the course provides time to put the skills learnt into practice.  Whilst we can provide example files that allow you to create a publication some attendees may find it useful to bring along their own ideas as well as content including text and images so that time can be spent laying out a publication that is appropriate to an immediate need.

Prerequisites

You must be familiar with the Microsoft Office interface as well as using a mouse and keyboard. It is recommended that you are able to create formatted documents using Microsoft Word prior to attending this course.

Course Duration

1 day - length of course 6 hours.

Cost

£95 for members of staff and students of Cardiff University.

£125 for non-profit making organisations, e.g. other universities, charities, and government bodies, including Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

£150 for commercial organisations (profit-making) wishing to book anyone onto this course.
