Blackboard 8 Known Issues
This web page lists problems that several or more users have encountered while using Blackboard 8. These issues are ones we are aware of and have been confirmed by Blackboard. We continue to add to the list as we receive and verify problems.

Elapsed Time box covering Submit button when taking a test
Issue
If students are taking a timed exam using Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) they will be unable to submit their test due to the elapsed time box covering the Save and Submit buttons.
Work-around
As a workaround, "Compatibility View" in IE8 can be used, but an alternate browser is recommended. (i.e. Firefox 2 or 3.0 or Internet Explorer 6 or 7). Please read the document on Setting IE8 to Compatibility Mode for full instructions.
Status
This is a known compatibility issue. We are currently awaiting compatibility to be established.
Error when uploading a file in the Assignment Manager
Issue
When using the Assignment Manager with Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 users get a "Please enter a valid file" error when trying to upload a file in the Assignment Manager. This affects students and staff.
Workaround
Until this issue is addressed we recommend you do not upgrade your browser to Firefox 3.5 or 3.6. Please note that Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 is not yet deemed as compatible or certified by Blackboard. The following browsers are recommended: Internet Explorer 6 or 7, Firefox 2 or 3.0.x or Safari 2 if using a MAC.
Status
This is a known compatibility issue. We are currently awaiting compatibility to be established between Blackboard and Firefox 3.5 and 3.6.
Guest Access issue
Issue
Users enrolled with the role of guest on a specific module cannot access the module unless the module is made available to all users with a Blackboard account.
Workaround
There is no workaround for this issue.

We are currently in discussions with Blackboard regarding this issue.
