Societies and organisations

Auswärtiges Amt, Berlin
German Foreign Ministry website. Gives details about Germany's foreign policy and about moving to Germany. The ministry is also responsible for the Deutschland Magazine, an online magazine about German politics and culture.

German Goverment homepage. Includes, amongst lots of other useful information, the full-text of the German "Grundgesetz" (Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany).

DAAD - Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst
The German Academic Exchange Service website contains a wealth of information about German academic institutions, research, language learning etc. The DAAD also maintains a seperate website Campus Germany, that focuses on German universities, degree programmes and practical information about living in Germany.

German British Forum (GBF)
Forum for people engaged in enhancing co-operation between the two countries.

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution operational worldwide.

Institute for German Studies
Based at the University of Birmingham, the Institute for German Studies is a well-established Centre for German Studies in the UK. Includes details of forthcoming conferences and other events as well as some useful links.
