Printed Reference Sources for Business, Economics and Transport

These printed sources are useful additions to the available electronic resources. They are reference books so are for use in the library only, and cannot be borrowed.  They are located in the Reference collection on the first floor of the library, apart from the company annual reports, which are located on the ground floor with the Main collection.

Aberconway Library holds a range of current and historical statistical publications published by the UK Office for National Statistics, other governments and international organisations such as the IMF and OECD. These cover a number of subject areas including:

The collection contains up to ten years annual reports from the top:

  • 100 UK companies
  • 50 European companies
  • 50 USA companies
  • 50 Japanese Companies

Market reports  

Product news and developments in particular market sectors can be found in the printed series such as

  • Mintel Marketing Intelligence
  • Pocket Book Series

 Mintel is also available in electronic format - printed reports are only held up to 2009, so the most up-to-date reports are online only.

Newspaper collection  

Printed copies of British and some international newspapers are kept for 6 months or longer. Newspapers held include the Western Mail, Financial Times and Nikkei. The Financial Times is also available on microfilm from 1983 onwards.
All of the major UK newspapers and many international newspapers are also available electronically on Newsbank and Nexis UK

These are complementary to the electronic databases, helping in the identification of literature within specialised areas of interest. Titles include:
