Research

Problem-focused interdisciplinary social science research is well-established across the University, but this is the first time we are bringing it together under one roof.

Generating excellent research is not sufficient in tackling societal problems; these ideas also need to effectively influence real world situations. Co-locating research groups with some of our key partners, our hub of activity has been designed to provide space and facilities for like-minded innovators to join us and collaborate on impactful research.

Working closely with public, private and third sector organisations will enable us to co-produce knowledge that is informed by partners and practitioners from the outset. This means we can test solutions as they are developed and seek feedback from end-users, seeing the impact of our research in real-time.

Whilst the ethos of SPARK extends across the University, several research centres will be physically based in SPARK. These researchers are working to create a smarter, safer and more secure world for us all.
