Download the University logo

The University's logo is available in three basic file types for you to download. If you require any other versions of the logo, or have any queries regarding the logo, please contact us.

Print-ready logos

All of the above files use a CMYK colour scheme for use in print. For screen and 'Web optimised' versions of the logo, please contact Public Relations.

Logo sizing & resizing

The Cardiff University logo should never be displayed on screen smaller than a 55 pixel x 55 pixel square, as the text on the logo becomes illegible. If a social media or automated service scales the logo down to a size smaller than this, we accept this is out of the author's control, but the main social media profile image, icon or logo instance must be of an acceptable original size.

To avoid the logo occupying too large an area, a standard size has been established for an A4 cover which is 30mm wide. The basic rule for other sizes larger than A4 (A0, A1, A2 and A3) would be that the logo should be the same size proportionally as it is on A4. Smaller sizes such as A5 or third A4 use a smaller version of the logo down to a minimum width of 17mm. The logo should not be reproduced any smaller than this, although it is acknowledged that in some cases, for example on business cards or branded merchandise, this guideline may need to be flexible.

To maintain the effectiveness of the logo, a space is always maintained around its perimeter. This is an "exclusion zone" around the logo in which text or other visual elements (for example other logos) should not appear. The zone is the height of the capital letter S in the word UNIVERSITY as it appears in the logo. The logo may appear over a faint background image, sufficiently contrasting colour or photograph but it is not permitted for the background image or colour to permeate the logo. This means that the white line separating the English and Welsh aspects of the logo should always be clearly visible as white. The use of a white hairline around the logo is not permitted.

The exclusion zone is not always used in digital or online media, but removal of it should be agreed on a 'per design' basis with the University's Web Management Team.

Cardiff Logo

The University logo should always be used bilingually. It must never be re-drawn, re-designed or distorted in any way. It can be resized by selecting a corner of the image and collapsed or expanded as required.
