Managing Research Data - Key Aspects of Legal Compliance and Records Management

2 ½ hours

This course covers the legal requirements of the Data Protection Act, in terms of research data, as well as good practice in the management of research records, whether in paper or electronic format. Topics covered will include informed consent and fair processing notices, confidentiality, storage media, retention periods and data security. The course will also cover how to write Data Management Plans (DMP’s) and the requirements around making research data openly available.
