Engagement & Impact
TV Documentary Making and Knowledge Transfer
3 hours
Research Council and other funding bodies increasingly expect researchers to demonstrate the impact of their research on the wider community. Through this workshop, students can gain an insight into one of the ways in which outcomes of research can be communicated to the public, namely through TV documentaries, and the processes involved therein.
The session will:
- consider the relationship between commissioning editors, TV production companies and academics
- provide guidance on how to identify and approach a TV production company with a proposal
- offer insight into the challenges and benefits of communicating research through TV
- consider engaging with the media in general
- touch on Knowledge Transfer and Knowledge Exchange Opportunities in the Creative and Cultural Industries
