Applying for Academic Jobs (Humanities/Social Sciences)
2.5 hours
This workshop will highlight the key areas you need to think about when applying for research positions and lectureships in the humanities, including putting together your application and preparing for interview. A Head of School and an advisor from Human Resources will provide the ‘insider view’ on what happens once applications are received, describe the usual format of academic interviews, and talk about what happens once the interview has taken place.
The workshop will offer suggestions on:
- how to compose an appropriate letter of application;
- how to fine tune your CV to match the job;
- how to prepare yourself for the interview event;
- how to respond appropriately at the interview.
