The Cardiff Researcher Programme
The Cardiff Researcher Programme is designed for staff employed on research only contracts at Cardiff university. It provides researchers with a wide range of opportunities for developing key skills, information-based sessions and one-to-one coaching. The programme covers a wide range of skills and topic areas from transferable and cross discipline skills to those that are more closely aligned with specific discipline areas. It complements other training and development offered by the University by Human Resources and Information Services among others, and locally within Academic Schools and research groups.
How do I book a place?
Having discussed your training requirements with, and gained approval from, your Principal Investigator email your name, school, course title and date to email@example.com.
You will then receive confirmation of your booking via email.
How much do the training sessions cost?
These sessions are provided free of charge to the University staff on research-only contracts but the number of places on these courses is limited. If you reserve a place and fail to attend, without a valid reason, your non-attendance will be reported to your Head of School and charges may be made. If, for any reason, you are unable to take your place on any of the events in this programme it is important that you inform the Training and Development Team as soon as possible, so that your place may be offered to somebody else.
Demand for, and feedback about, individual events will be monitored and will inform future provision for all grades of research staff.
The programme contains listings on the following:
- all cross-discipline, transferable skills workshops provided for research staff by the University’s central staff development section. Research staff also have access to the general Staff Development Programme, which is issued annually to all members of staff.
- all discipline-based transferable skills workshops are provided for research staff by the University Graduate College.
