Staff Survey

Welcome to the Staff Survey web pages.  This website provides information on the results of the 2008 and 2011 Staff Surveys.

Cardiff University’s first staff survey took place in 2008 as part of the Positive Working Environment initiative.  A 43% response rate was achieved, and an incredibly useful set of data was obtained, which has enabled the University to take action to address the issues and concerns that were raised by staff through the survey process.  Click here for more information about the 2008 Staff Survey.

The second staff survey was conducted in October/November 2011, with 57% of staff participating – a 14 percentage point improvement on the 2008 survey response rate.  

ORC International, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of staff surveys and employee engagement research, were appointed to conduct the survey.

The aims of the 2011 survey were:

  • To see how things have changed since the last survey in 2008
  • To find out what’s working well and where further improvements can be made
  • To provide a true picture of staff opinion to help us plan for the future

What next?

  • Findings from the Survey will be used to highlight what we are doing well and to inform plans for improvement, at a University-wide level and at School and Directorate level
