Positive Health + Environment Week 2012 (PHEW 2012)
Our fourth Positive Health and Environment Week (PHEW) took place between Monday 25th June and Friday 6th July 2012. This annual event aims to encourage, support and develop the health and wellbeing of Cardiff University’s employees, through a wide range of enjoyable and informative activities.
Over 80 different activities were on offer over the fortnight, many of which were repeated and held at different locations and at different times of the day and evening to enable as many people as possible to participate. Well over 1000 members of staff did so.
This year the programme included 15 new activities that had not featured in previous PHEW events. Fitness classes, health checks, adventure and craft activities, workshops and talks, tours of some of Cardiff's fascinating sites and exhibitions, complementary therapies and more - there was something in PHEW 2012 for all University staff to enjoy.
The links on the right of this page will take you to the PHEW 2012 brochure and a selection of photographs, to give you an idea of the variety of activity over the two weeks.
Thank you for your feedback
Following PHEW 2012, we published on online feedback survey and invited all staff, whether or not they had taken part in PHEW 2012, to respond. Many thanks to all who did so.
The PHEW 2012 Review highlights the results of this survey and can be viewed by clicking on the link to the right of this page.
Here are just a few of your comments:

Why is PHEW important?

“Ensuring that the health and well being of staff is supported is extremely important if we are to ensure that we have a happy, healthy and productive workforce. Since the first Positive Health and Environment Week in 2009, it has become a popular annual event in the University calendar. It is clear from the feedback we receive after each event that PHEW is something which staff have found enjoyable and valuable, enhancing their experience of working for the University.”
