HCT181 - Foundation in Advanced Clinical Assessment for Healthcare Professionals

The module aims to focus on enabling students working within emergency and unscheduled care environments to develop their clinical patient assessment and diagnostic skills within their specific area of practice.

The module is aimed at healthcare professionals (nurses, paramedics and allied healthcare professionals) working at or towards advanced levels of practice.

This module is suitable for emergency/urgent care practitioners including paramedics, ENPs, APs, practice nurses and extended scope physiotherapists. To explore whether this module is suitable for you please contact one of the Module leaders.

It has been designed to build on current physical assessment knowledge, understanding and skills and take these to an advanced level within a specific area of practice.

The module will be assessed by a Designated Supervisor/Mentor (DSM) via a series of Practical Assessments in the clinical setting plus one Clinical Examination (OSCE) in the simulated skills environment.

This module can be taken individually (stand alone) or as part of the full MSc in Advanced Practice.

How to apply

You will be expected to provide two references and a personal statement reflecting your clinical and personal developmental requirements.

You will also require the support of your line manager and Designated Supervising Medical Practitioner (DSMP) or Designated Supreviosry Mentor (DSM) to access the programme, as you will need to accrue clinical hours working alongside your DSMP/DSM. You will need to supply us with Supporting Documentation
