Career Planning for Physical Sciences & Engineering Researchers: Exploring your Options Beyond Academia

This half day event gave delegates the opportunity to explore the range of non-academic career opportunities available to early stage researchers in the physical sciences and engineering.  Speakers from a range of employers, both public and private sector, talked about careers within their areas. The event provided an insight into career paths and entry methods for their areas of employment.

During the event, researchers had the opportunity to:

Find out where PhD graduates in the physical sciences and engineering end up after University.
Find out from PhD graduates about the real life opportunities for physical sciences and engineering PhDs within industry.
Identify the skills and competencies that employers look for in recruits.
Understand how your skills as a researcher can be transferred to a range of occupations.
Network with a range of professionals.
Through a CV workshop learn how to turn your academic CV into a CV for industry.
