Noise Disruptions in the Graduate Centre

Noise Disruptions 25 March - 12 April (weekdays until 4pm)

We apologise for the noise and disruption caused by the work being carried out by the Students’ Union to create new meeting spaces on the 4th Floor, directly above the Graduate Centre.

This work began at short notice on Monday 25th March and is likely to continue until the end of the undergraduate Easter Recess, Friday 12th April.
Areas within the Graduate Centre most affected by the noise are Reception, Meeting Rooms 3.03 and 3.04, and the Coffee Lounge.  

The Cafe Bar, Reading Room, Computer Room, and meeting rooms 3.08, 3.10 and 3.19  will be less affected so we advise students requiring quieter conditions to use these areas.  We will monitor the situation and may designate Room 3.10 as an informal study space to compensate for the lack of the Coffee Lounge.  

We are fully aware of the study needs of postgraduate students during the Easter recess period, so we asked that the work be postponed until the summer. However the Students’ Union has felt it necessary to go ahead with the work now in order to reduce the impact on undergraduate students.

Potential Ongoing Noise Disruptions from Solus

Due to the Graduate Centre being located above the Students' Union Solus nightclub / music venue, from time to time the centre is subject to noise disruption caused by loud events taking place in Solus.

In order to give students studying in the Graduate Centre as much notice as possible of these potential disruptions, we have compiled the following list of known upcoming events. However, please note that this may not be a complete list as some events may be scheduled at short notice.

Over the summer break all regular club nights cease to run. They will recommence from 24th September to coincide with Welcome Fortnight.

However, the following gig nights have been scheduled to take place in Solus and will cause loud noise disruption. Please see individual timings:
