Friends of Enfys
Karen Cooke with Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan
We want all staff to make a visible effort to make Cardiff University an LGBT+ friendly workplace. You can do this by joining our 'Friends of Enfys' scheme! It's open to all staff, regardless of sexual orientation, and is a visible way to show your support for LGBT+ staff, students and visitors.
To join the scheme, and to receive a laminated 'Friend' card to display in a prominent place, email email@example.com
Members of the scheme will receive regular updates on Enfys activities and invitations to events.
Take a photo of you with your 'Friend of Enfys' laminate and share it on our Facebook page!

We use the term LGBT+ at Cardiff to represent all sexual and gender identities as we know some people don't want to be defined by a particular label. We also know lots of our heterosexual colleagues want to help and support the network. Here are some tips:
- Get to know the things that matter to your LGBT+ colleagues - this could be the language that you use or taking into account their experiences and what can be done to change the culture around you.
- Make clear, visible statements about the importance of LGBT+ equality to your team/organisation. Making this public commitment helps all staff to understand this isn't just a 'tick box' exercise.
- If you hear comments, language or jokes that you feel are inappropriate then we'd like you to speak up. If challenging the person concerned isn't an option then contact us so we can support you to deal with it in the future.
- Most importantly, be yourself. We want colleagues around the university to know that LGBT+ equality isn't something you're doing because you have to, it's because you want to and it matters to all our staff and students.
