Cardiff University’s education is primarily in English, but provision through the medium of Welsh is being developed in some areas. Students studying eligible courses wishing to pursue part of their degree through the medium of Welsh may be interested in scholarships affiliated to the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
Welsh speakers may feel more comfortable with a Welsh speaking personal tutor. Every effort will be made to allocate a Welsh speaker to you provided there are Welsh speaking members of staff in your subject area. You can also submit assessed work and take examinations through the medium of Welsh, regardless of the language of tuition of the programme. (This may not be possible in certain clinical areas.)
Some of our flats in Senghennydd Court and Talybont North are reserved for Welsh speakers and those learning Welsh. If you would prefer to live in a Welsh speaking flat, please note this on your accommodation application.
