Entry Requirements - Physics & Astronomy

Minimum Entry Requirements

Single-honours, BSc & MPhys courses

AAA-ABB grades at A-level to include Maths and Physics (excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking) OR Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma with a pass in the Core and grades AA in GCE A-level to include Maths and Physics. Please note, an offer of ABB may be made to applicants with extenuating circumstances (if applicable) at our discretion.

Joint-honours, BSc - Physics and Maths

AAB grades at A-level to include A grades in Maths and Physics (excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking) OR Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma with a pass in the Core and grades AA in Maths and Physics.

Single-honours, BSc - Physics with Music 

AAB-ABB grades at A-level in Maths, Physics and Music plus evidence of working towards grade 8 in one instrument. Grade 8 practical plus grade 8 theory can be substituted instead of A2 Music but Maths and Physics are still required at minimum AB grades (either order).


Additional Requirements for Admission

There are no specific additional requirements for admission.

Resit Candidates

The Cardiff School of Physics and Astronomy will consider applications on an individual basis.
