Admissions Criteria
The School has prepared this document to assist applicants in assessing whether they have the skills, attributes and qualifications which Cardiff School of European Studies has identified as being important if students are to succeed on its undergraduate programmes of study. It also summarises the process which the School uses for selecting students and making offers, so that applicants understand how the School considers their applications.
Scope of the Criteria
All undergraduate European Studies programmes (European Union Studies, French, German, Italian, Hispanic Studies, Politics and International Relations).
Profile of Applications
There are approximately 1500 applications for approximately 220 places each year so competition is high.
Opportunities to learn more about the School and its programme of study
A University-wide Open Day for undergraduates is held in the Spring of each year and provides an opportunity to visit all departments in addition to residences, the Students’ Union and sports facilities. Please see www.cardiff.ac.uk/for/prospective/ug/opendays/index.html for further details.
All UK or EU applicants who are made either a conditional offer or an unconditional offer will be sent an invitation to a School of European Studies Open Day.
