A-level
Physics, Mathematics and one other subject for all degree programmes.
BSc
AAB - BBB to include Physics and Maths and one other subject.
MPhys:
AAB to include Physics and Maths and one other subject.
AS
A Maths or Physics AS cannot be considered as an alternative to a full A-level.
IRL
Each applicant will be considered on his/her individual merit.
IB
Each applicant will be considered on his/her individual merit. 32 points with 6 in Physics and Maths required for MPhys, 29 points with 5 in Physics and Maths required for BSc.
EB
Each applicant will be considered on his/her individual merit.
BTEC
Each applicant will be considered on his/her individual merit.
Vocational A-Level
A vocational A-level may be considered in lieu of a third A-level.
Welsh Baccalaureate
A pass in Core accompanied B,B (200 points) in Maths & Physics at A level
Scottish Higher
Each applicant will be considered on his/her individual merit.
Key Skills
The Key Skills qualification forms no part of the School's entry requirements.
Other
Applications from those offering alternative/vocational/overseas qualifications (eg. Access,Vocational A-level) are welcome, as are those who may have combinations of qualifications or other relevant work/life experience.
Interviewing Policy
All applicants whose applications pass the initial screening process will be invited to a specific Open Day at the School of Physics and Astronomy where they can discuss their application informally with members of staff. Interviews will be held if required by the School or requested by the applicant. Applicants for physics and music will be required to undertake an audition for the Music element of the course.
