A-level
AAB-ABB (340-320 points) depending on degree scheme, to include Chemistry and at least one other other science subject, preferably Biology. General Studies is not accepted.
AS
Two AS subjects will be accepted in lieu of a third A-level. Chemistry will be accepted at AS-level if offered with 2 sciences at A-level. General Studies is not accepted.
IRL
BBBBBCC at Higher Level, including Chemistry and other relevant sciences. Obtain Diploma with 32 points overall, including scores of 6 in Chemistry, and 5 in Biology.
IB
Obtain Diploma with 34 points with a minimum score of 5 in Biology and Chemistry at Higher Level.
EB
Obtain Diploma with an overall average of 70%, including 70% in Chemistry and Biology.
BTEC
HND in Science with Merit / Distinction, DDD-DDM (360-320 points).
Welsh Baccalaureate
340 points from 18 units to include WB plus A level Chemistry and one other A level, preferably from Biology, Physics and Maths.
Scottish Advanced Higher
AAB-ABB (340-320 points) to include Chemistry and at least one other science subject.
Key Skills
Although the Key Skills qualification is not part of the formal entry requirement, evidence of attainment in key skills in applicants' personal statements is an advantage
Interviewing Policy
The majority of applicants to Biomedical Sciences are invited to attend an informal open day.
Other
Applications from those offering alternative/overseas qualifications are welcome as are those who may have combinations of qualifications or other relevant work/life experience.
