University Graduate College: Enhancing the experience of Postgraduate Researchers

Doctor of Medicine

The MD is a doctoral research degree undertaken by medical graduates.

It is usually laboratory-based though it will focus on a specific clinical research topic.

If you are a practising local clinician you may undertake a part-time MD to work on a research question that arises from or is part of your clinical duties and interests.

All of our MD students are supported by a supervisory team and through access to specialist research skills training.

An MD project is of a narrower scope than PhD study but is of comparable depth and the work should also make an original contribution to medical knowledge.

The School of Medicine offers a number of opportunities for MD Degrees.
