The Graduate Centre & University Graduate College

Networking and advancing your skills is an integral part of your postgraduate journey. The University has established the Graduate Centre to provide centrally-located social and study facilities and the University Graduate College to foster an intellectually stimulating environment for research students to share and develop research interests with peers from other academic schools, and to feel part of a wider research community.

Graduate Centre

Cardiff University is one of only a few universities in Britain to offer a dedicated Graduate Centre exclusively for the use of postgraduate students. The Centre provides year-round study and social facilities and events to both taught and research postgraduate students at Cardiff at our two campuses. This includes:

  • IT suite, reading and meeting rooms, a Café Bar and a Lounge with networked computers and tables for group work in our Students' Union Building, main campus
  • Study room and social space at our Heath Park campus
  • Postgraduate welcome events
  • Weekly film nights
  • Quiz & pizza nights
  • Coach trips
  • and lots more

In addition, Postgraduate Masters Career Sessions will be run in Schools with sizeable masters courses. Central Workshops on the same topics will run in the Careers & Employability Centre. All of these will be advertised on the Target Careers Booking System accessible from the Careers Website.

University Graduate College

The University Graduate College is here to support the University's commitment to the highest level of quality and relevance in postgraduate research programmes; to promote excellent supervision, monitoring and support; to increase opportunities for postgraduate research; and to provide an environment that nurtures intellectual and professional growth, in which our postgraduate researchers can thrive.

The University's package of support for postgraduate researchers and research only staff was shortlisted in the 2010 Times Higher Education Award for “Outstanding Support for Early Career Researchers”.
