Part-Time Study Opportunities
Like many prospective postgraduates in Cardiff and throughout the UK, you may need to balance your graduate study with responsibilities such as work and family commitments. However, this does not mean that further study cannot be a viable and rewarding period in your personal, academic and/or career development. One solution is to undertake a postgraduate qualification part-time.
Part-time study at Cardiff typically spreads your chosen course over twice the period of time, breaking it down into far more manageable units. This allows for greater flexibility and less intensity in terms of contact time with supervisors and workload, while still providing you with all the benefits enjoyed by full-time students at Cardiff, such as access to 24-hour facilities, the full support of academic staff and a thriving social, cultural and sporting environment. Cardiff University is also fully committed to supporting your financial and familial concerns, for example through the University Jobshop, Careers Service, and Day Care Centre for young children.
Cardiff University offers a wide range of opportunities for part-time study, from Ancient History to Nursing, Civil Engineering to Philosophy. In addition to more traditional part-time modes of study, there are also a number of courses which are available via distance/e-learning, such as the MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering, the MSc in Clinical Engineering and a range of courses in Medicine and Healthcare, such as the MSc/PgDip in Advanced Surgical Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology.
For all of these courses, every effort is made to structure the cost of the course evenly over the duration of study. A comprehensive, course-specific breakdown of part-time fees is included in our downloadable tuition fees sheets: to access these, please visit our tuition fees page.
