The Postgraduate Social Scene
The Postgraduate Social Scene

As a postgraduate at Cardiff you will enjoy all the benefits of a thriving social scene centred upon a balance between close affiliation with fellow postgraduates and integration into the wider student world. Not surprisingly, for a university set in the heart of a capital city with a Students’ Union independently recognised as the ‘biggest and best in the UK’, there is a vast array of activities to choose from, some of which are exclusively for postgraduates. There is also a range of bodies which represent postgraduates at all levels of university life, from the Graduate Development Committee, which provides a central focus for postgraduate students at Cardiff, to the UK-wide National Postgraduate Committee.
The Postgraduate Social Society and the Mature Students’ Society organise social events which may be of interest to those undertaking postgraduate study. Through these you will have the opportunity to engage in debate, conversation, fun and maybe the odd pint at the Café bar! For more detailed information, have a look at the Graduate Centre website.

As members of the Students’ Union, all postgraduates also have the opportunity to take advantage of the extensive range of societies and sports clubs at Cardiff University. Whether you are interested in football or film, dancing or campaigning for Amnesty International, you will find something which is new, exciting and allows you to meet like-minded people.
Being a postgraduate at Cardiff offers you the chance to widen your horizons in more areas than your academic specialism - and if you feel that something is missing from the list of societies below, the Union provides impressive support (both financially and in terms of advice) enabling you to start a society of your own…
