Cardiff University has been visiting Vietnam for several years, where we work closely with agents and the British Council, visiting schools and attending student fairs.

Vietnamese students come to Cardiff to study Business, City Planning, health-related programmes and Architecture, among others. We are looking forward to welcoming more Vietnamese students to Cardiff in the future.

Foundation courses

If you have studied the Senior High School Certificate (Tot Nghiep Pho Thong Trung Hoc) you will usually need to study a foundation programme, or the first year of a degree in Vietnam, to qualify for an undergraduate programme in the UK.

You will need to complete your High School Certificate with a an average of at least 7.0 to be accepted onto Cardiff University’s International Foundation Programme.

Students achieving an average of 8.0 in year 11 of their High School Certificate (with 8.0 in relevant subjects) may also be considered.

Undergraduate courses

You will be required to successfully complete your high school certificate with grades of at least 7 (or an average of grade B) in addition to a recognised one year foundation programme.

Cardiff University will also consider successful completion of year one of a relevant four year honour's degree at a recognised institution in Vietnam.

Postgraduate taught courses

You will be required to have a relevant four year bachelor's degree from a recognised institution, with grades of 7.0-7.5 or above to qualify for Cardiff University's postgraduate taught programmes.

Postgraduate research programmes

If you are applying for research programmes from Vietnam, you will be required to provide evidence that you have already carried out research, usually via the successful completion of a relevant masters' degree.

You will need successful completion of a relevant four year bachelor's degree from a recognised institution, with grades of approximately 7.0 or above and possibly also successful completion of a relevant master's programme from a recognised institution.

English language

A relevant English language qualification is also required — normally a minimum of 6.5 IELTS, however, this may vary from course to course.

If you are unsure of your qualifications or entry requirements please contact the International Office.

Ha Trinh tells us about life at Cardiff University and how the academic experience has been for her so far.

Sarah Watts, the Vietnam country manager, introduces Cardiff University on TV.

Student views

I chose Cardiff University because the Business School is in the top 5 in the UK and also because the cost of living is lower compared to other UK cities.

Quang Huy Nguyen, International Foundation Programme

For me, going to university is not only about getting a degree. It's also about meeting friends and experiencing what student life is. I have never regretted choosing Cardiff as my university.
