Cardiff University has a long tradition of welcoming students from Iraq. Students are enrolled in a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and English language programmes within the University.

The University has developed a good understanding of the Iraqi education system and is a recognised institution by the major sponsors in Iraq.

Foundation courses

If you have graduated from the national high school system, you will be required to successfully complete a one year International Foundation Programme before entering Cardiff University's undergraduate programmes.

You will be required to successfully complete the Certificate of Preparatory Education with an overall average of 85% and at least 85% in key subject areas to qualify for the International Foundation Programme.

Undergraduate courses

You will be required to have good A-level scores or the equivalent of the International Baccalaureate Diploma to be considered for admission on to Cardiff University's undergraduate degree programmes.

Postgraduate taught courses

If you have completed a four year undergraduate honours degree or equivalent, from a recognised University, with an overall grade of 70% + or equivalent, you will be considered for entry to Cardiff University's postgraduate courses.

Postgraduate research programmes

To be considered for postgraduate research courses, you will be required to have a good master's degree from a recognised university in Iraq, with an overall grade of 70% or above.

English language

A relevant English language qualification is also required — normally a minimum of 6.5 IELTS, however, this may vary from course to course.

I visit Iraq several times a year, and my role involves guiding and assisting students applying to Cardiff. As well as meeting with prospective students on my trips to Iraq, I work closely with Embassies and other partner organisations of the University
