Since 1883 Cardiff has established itself as one of Britain's leading universities. It is an internationally-renowned University which attracts students and staff from throughout the UK and from more than 100 overseas countries.
Research is currently conducted in all departments, (Research ratings for departments), this creates a stimulating environment for teaching, ensuring that students are exposed to the very latest thinking in their fields and that the most modern technology and equipment are available. Twenty-one subject areas have been assessed as 'Excellent" in independent assessments of teaching quality. This is one of the highest totals in the UK (Teaching ratings for departments).
Our size enables large departments to be sustained in all the main subject areas and we are able to offer a very wide range of courses taught by distinguished staff. The course structures are flexible; some allow you to defer specialisation, whereas others offer intensive professional training from the start.
Our students benefit from excellent library and computing facilities and a comprehensive range of support and welfare services. We have more than 4,700 modern, attractive and affordable places to live in, and Cardiff University is one of only a few universities which can guarantee all single overseas students a place in University accommodation for the duration of their degree programmes.
Cardiff University has a long history of welcoming international students and staff from more than 100 other countries around the world. This year, we will support at least 3000 international students in their efforts to obtain a world-class education. As Europe’s youngest capital city, Cardiff has a lot to offer international students. It is recognised as one of the most attractive university cities in the UK and has many beautiful parks and gardens. The city also has a wealth of cultural, sporting, shopping and leisure facilities so there is a variety of entertainment — with something for everyone. With a population of 300,000 the city has a friendly atmosphere and students are welcomed into a multi-cultural and safe environment.
We believe that Cardiff, with all the facilities of a capital city, is one of the finest places in which to study in the UK. If you require further information please contact the International Foundation Office, who will be very pleased to hear from you.
