Heath is that little bit further out than Roath and Cathays, making it quieter and populated mainly by third-years, postgraduates and families.
Heath is especially good for those doing medicine-based/healthcare courses since it is near the Heath Park Campus, which Cardiff University shares with the University Hospital of Wales.
Compared to Cathays, Heath is quiet area and although there is an increasing number of students, many of the houses are also privately owned. It is especially convenient for those with cars or bikes, or those doing medicine-based/healthcare courses (since it is near to the Heath Park Campus and the University Hospital of Wales).
Heath has a Co-op, a Doctor’s Surgery, several pharmacies and lots of charity shops. Maindy Pool and Talybont Sports Centre are also close by, offering swimming and gym facilities, a running track and various fitness classes. The Heath Park is a lovely area, with lots of space for running and other activities as well as a mini golf course!
The Heath pub on the corner of Whitchurch and Allensbank Roads is a regular haunt for medical and dental students. There are a few other bars and cafes, but Heath is largely residential and it's really not far to walk to Roath or Cathays.
