The Bay covers a large area, the vast majority of which has modern, comfortable accommodation and much of the Bay is within walking distance of the town and the University.
From the town end, in particular, it is only a 20 minute walk to the main University building. The Bay covers the area from the waterfront to the edge of the city, so the further you are from the water, the closer you are to the city centre (and vice-versa!).
The Bay is an exciting, developing part of Cardiff with some rather plush apartments up for grabs. Most of these tend to be privately owned, mainly by young professionals and, due to their situation and contemporary style, are more expensive. If you are willing to pay that bit extra, it is a really nice place to be and you may find yourself with access to a pool and gym as part of your tenancy – although The Bay is also home to the impressive International Pool, which has flumes and impressive gym facilities of its own!
Look to Mermaid Quay, where you will find lots of bars and clubs, including the trendy Bar Cwtch, the beautiful Terra Nova and Glee comedy club, to name but a few. Those looking for a spot of culture can check out the Millennium Centre, which offers opera, dance, theatre and a range of other performance styles throughout the year.
