Somali Integration Society project co-ordinator Fatima Noor, FitzAllen HighSchool teacher Asha Ali discuss options for study at the University
The University got together with the city’s Somali Integration Society to encourage members of local ethnic minority communities to consider higher education study.
Current Cardiff students from diverse local ethnic minority communities were among those hosting an Open Day about the University at Butetown Youth Pavilion. They were there to answer questions from around 140 members of various communities about overcoming the hurdles of getting into university.
University staff also attended to discuss the variety of courses on offer, including adult classes. Teaching staff offered advice about courses in nursing, psychology and journalism. Staff from the University’s Student Advisory Service discussed the practicalities of undergraduate life while staff from the Human Resources Division provided information on job opportunities within the University.
