In April the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) is republishing Professor Kenneth Dyson's 'The State Tradition in Western Europe' in the ECPR Classics Series, with an extended 50-page author's preface on developments in state theory over the last 20 years. It was originally Professor Dyson's PhD thesis. It will be the 9th volume published in this series alongside titles by Stefan Bartolini and Peter Mair, Barry Buzan, Morton Kaplan, Steven Lukes, and Giovanni Sartori.
