My research interests focus on two main areas: European culture and Translation Studies. Both are connected since I consider European culture as a culture in translation, between the cultures of Europe and between Europe and the world, which calls for non-territorial approaches of culture.
Translation, between languages and between cultures, refers to a practice as well as a field of knowledge. As such it has a very important role to play in our era of globalization and European unification.
My other areas of research include cultural expressions of exilic and diasporic experiences (see my research group website address below), cultural hybridity and métissage, convergence betweeen Black memory and Jewish memory, aesthetics of modernism and postmodernism, Holocaust literature.
