In The hands of God’s servants
29th May 2013
The School of History, Archaeology and Religion [SHARE] hosted the international conference on Medieval history on the 23rd and 24th of May 2013. There were 19 speakers from the United Kingdom, USA and across Europe, with a significant number of people attending the sessions over the two days. The event featured eminent academics as well as postgraduate students, including Prof. Peter Coss from Cardiff University, Dr Stephen Marritt from Glasgow University and Dr William Aird from Edinburgh University as keynote speakers. The event was a great success and we received extremely positive feedback from all the participants, both for the organisation and for the quality of the papers. The School of European Studies, Politics and Translation played a key role in this event in many respects. In particular we would like to emphasise the role of Prof. Alistair Cole, Prof. Claire Gorrara and Dr Rachel Langford who helped to securing some funds and the support we have received from many scholars within the school who helped us in advertising the conference. Moreover EUROP’s involvement meant that the conference was not only international, but also interdisciplinary. In the following months it is the intention to make every effort to publish the outcome of the conference and also to turn this conference into an annual event, as requested by many participants.
We would like to thank EUROP for the support given.
