Research Grant Success for Creative Partnership
05th Feburay 2013
Start-up creative agency Hodcha under the lead of Bambo Soyinka and our colleague Alexis Nuselovici (Nouss) have worked on a project which has been selected among the eight projects commissioned by the AHRC REACT Sandbox funding for its second round, 'Books and Print' . Soyinka's and Nouss' project, Book Kernel, aims at developing an event-based model of publishing which will allow audiences to curate and print a personal memento of a live event, incorporating selected content, social media interaction and contextual information. They will prototype the model through the publishing of The Dylan Thomas Book Kernel at a live poetry translation workshop event.
Organised in anticipation of the centenial of Dylan Thomas in 2014, the workshop will take place on Monday the 25th of April in the Dylan Thomas Birthplace in Swansea. From morning till late at night, translators will work on Dylan Thomas' poetry, translating it into ten target languages (from French and German to Hebrew and Korean). Three editions including different versions of the translations, comments and contributions from the audience will be printed during the event. An electronic version with a specially designed app will allow translators and commentators to amend or augment their previously posted texts and to host visual and musical pieces created by artists in relation with the translated poems.
