European Award for Languages Project involving students at Cardiff
Students from the School contributed to a buddy scheme that has been awarded a prestigious European Language Label. The 'Adopt a Class' scheme links classes of pupils in secondary schools in Wales with university students on their year abroad. The aim is to highlight the opportunities to study and work abroad and through this to encourage young people to continue with their language studies. Developed and managed by Routes into Languages Cymru, the scheme partnership between Barry Comprehensive and Cardiff university students of French and Italian was show cased to a European Language Label judge in May.' Adopt a Class' is one of ten projects in the UK to receive this recognition. The team, including Cardiff students, will receive their award in London on 26 September, the European Day of Languages.
