A Public Lecture Presented by the Cardiff School of European Languages, Translation and Politics, Hispanic Studies Department, Institute for the Study of European Visual Culture Crime Narratives in Context Research Network.
Presented by Shelley Godsland (University of Birmingham) and Nickianne Moody (Liverpool John Moores University)
Crime fiction is acknowledged as having been a key indicator of socio-political change in Spain since the late 70s. It provides a commentary on the moral fabric of the nation, regional identity, gender issues, and uncovers Spain’s twentieth-century past.
The lecture will focus on the cover art of Spanish crime fiction to explore how designers have developed a particular visual style using the enigmatic portrait and family photograph to provide an understated reference to the narratives of recuperation that dominate the genre.
Darlith gyhoeddus gan Shelley Godsland (Prifysgol Birmingham) a Nickianne Moody (Prifysgol John Moores Lerpwl), Dydd Mercher 28 Ebrill, 5 pm
Cydnabuwyd fod ffuglen troseddau yn ddangosydd allweddol o newid gwleidyddol gymdeithasol yn Sbaen ers diwedd y 70au. Mae'n darparu sylwebaeth ar wead moesol y genedl, hunaniaeth ranbarthol, materion rhyw, ac yn datguddio hanes Sbaen yn yr ugeinfed ganrif.
Bydd y ddarlith yn canolbwyntio ar gelf clawr ffuglen droseddol Sbaen i ymchwilio sut mae dylunwyr wedi datblygu steil weledol neilltuol gan ddefnyddio ffotograffau portread a theulu enigmatig i ddarparu cyfeiriad cynnil i hanesion adferiadau sy’n tra-arglwyddiaethu’r genre.
