Postgraduate Enrolment Information
Online central enrolment: instructions are available on the University Registry Enrolment Information page. Please note that it is essential for all students to have completed Central Enrolment and to have accepted offers of study (via Registry) before attending School Induction.
School induction: Postgraduate Induction will take place on Thursday 27 September 2012 from 12:30, in the Tower Lecture Theatre (Room 0.02), Psychology Building, Park Place. All new Postgraduate Students must attend this event. You will be welcomed to the School by senior members of staff, given an overview of our facilities and introduced to the research culture of the School. There will also be an opportunity for all taught students to meet with their course convenor from 2.00pm (details of venues will be circulated on the day).
The event will finish with a social event from 16:00 in the Tower Coffee Shop (Psychology Building). All new Postgraduate Students are invited to attend.
Postgraduate Research Students: PhD/MPhil students are required to meet with Professor Kenneth Dyson, Director of Postgraduate Research. It is an opportunity to discuss all things research-related and ask any questions you may have. This will take place at 16:00, Wednesday 3 October 2012 in Room 1.17 (65-68 Park Place).
All new Research students are also expected to attend the ‘Starting Out’ event run by the Graduate College. This year, the event will be running on the 9, 11 & 22 October. Advance booking is required through the RSSDP bookings webpage.
Induction Activities for International Students: The International Office runs two weeks of events designed to give you the best possible start to your time at Cardiff. At these events you will find all the information, fun and friends you need to make your transition to UK life as carefree as possible. It is highly recommended that you plan to attend as many induction events as possible. Studies show that international students that participate in induction settle better into their new lifestyle in the UK.
The induction programme starts on Friday 21st September 2012, and a full timetable of events is available.
This year, the School will also be holding its own induction event for international students, hosted by Anne James. This will take place on Friday 28th September in Room 2.18 (65-68 Park Place, 14:00 - 15:00)
Graduate Centre: Join the Graduate Centre’s fortnight of social events specifically for postgraduates, and take the opportunity to meet other postgrads from all across the university. Every event is open to all postgraduates at Cardiff. Postgraduate Welcome Fortnight will run Monday 24 September - Sunday 7 October 2012.
