Postgraduate Funding: Professor URQ Henriques Scholarship Fund
In January 2001 the University received a gift of £100,000 from Professor Henriques, a former member of staff in the Department of History and Welsh History, University College, Cardiff (1960-1981) for the establishment of the Professor URQ Henriques Scholarship Fund. The purpose of the fund is to provide support for postgraduate students within the following Schools:
- Cardiff School of History and Archaeology (SHARE)
- Cardiff School of European Languages, Translation and Politics (EUROP)
- Cardiff School of English, Communication and Philosophy (ENCAP)
Income from the Fund will be used to provide scholarships for postgraduate students in one or more of the Schools concerned.
Legitimate application of the moneys will be: fees and/or maintenance of Masters or Doctoral students, recognising that Taught Masters schemes in all three Schools include an important research component. Each School will operate the normal procedures for attracting and assessing applications for postgraduate scholarships and will thereby ensure the transparency and fairness of the competition.
Awards will not be made when there are no candidates of sufficient merit. Students must meet the University entry requirements and must be in receipt of an offer to study in the School. Applications will be assessed on academic merit.
For the 2012/13 academic year, ENCAP will award the scholarship. EUROS will award this scholarship next in 2013/14.
