PhD Research Title: ‘The Lib-Lab Pact’: The political understanding between the Labour and Liberal Parties 1977-78

Info: My PhD examines the only formal cross-party agreement at Westminster since the Second World War. Drawing extensively from newly released archive material, the thesis predominantly focuses on: the political background to the pact, its formation, structure and implementation, how it affected policy and politics in the late 1970s and the extent to which it influenced future British politics, with particular emphasis on the formation of the SDP/Alliance.
