Mr Barry Jones was a Reader in Politics in the Cardiff School of European Studies at the time of his retirement in 2005 and he is still one of the foremost experts on Welsh politics and devolution.  He was the first Director of the Welsh Governance Centre and was instrumental in its creation in 1999.  His publications include Political Dynamics and the National Assembly for Wales, ed J Barry Jones, Local Government Studies, Frank Cass, 2003, and The Road to the National Assembly for Wales (with D Balsom), University of Wales Press, 2000 pp 308. Throughout his career he published in leading journals such as Regional and Federal Studies, Contemporary Wales, Public Policy and Administration, Government and Opposition and Local Government Studies.  Mr Jones was Director of Political Studies in the Cardiff School of European Studies from 1988 to 1998.
