Dr Kathryn Jones

She completed her PhD thesis on ‘Representations of Travel and Memory in 1960s and 1970s French and German Literature’ with the School in 2003. Her specialist subjects include: Post-war and contemporary French and German literature, Travel writing, War and conflict studies, French and German postcolonial studies, Migrant writing, Memory studies, Literary, filmic and historical representations of the Holocaust, the Second World War and the Algerian war of independence, and Gender studies.
Dr Jones joined Swansea on a full-time basis as a Welsh-medium tutorial fellow in January 2004 and was appointed as a lecturer in September 2004. She is responsible for teaching all general and specialist French language courses through the medium of Welsh, coordinating and teaching key modules in both Welsh and English. She has also taught at a business college in Kassel, Germany and has worked as a German language tutor and associate lecturer for the MA ‘Literature in European Cultures’ at Cardiff
She is one of only 2 recipients of Welsh medium teaching fellowships awarded by (HEFCW) to increase the supply of staff in higher education who are able to teach in Welsh.
