Jim Atkinson

Jim Atkinson - Space / IT Manager
Jim is responsible for managing space in the University, including maintaining accurate space records and using these to produce estate management statistics and analysis. He is involved with the use of space by schools and when appropriate undertakes projects to improve this, including acquisitions, refurbishments and relocations. Jim manages IT systems in Estates, particularly the maintenance job management system, the ‘Hotline’, which is currently being replaced with a highly efficient and modern system. Jim represents Estates in accessibility matters and, working with disabled stakeholders, undertakes projects to improve the physical accessibility of the estate.

Richard Frayling - Senior CAD Operator
Richard co-ordinates & manages CAD work within the CAD office.  He is responsible for improving the accuracy & the coverage of the Space Records CAD library & provides CAD support to both Minor & Capital Works projects.  In addition, he provides drawings & related information to various members of staff throughout Cardiff University.  Richard has over 12 years CAD experience & prior to employment with Cardiff University, he worked in design within the manufacturing industry.  Richard has also worked in private practice on residential & commercial projects.

Grant Inchcomb - CAD Technician
Grant has considerable experience working within the space management team.  Together with his other team colleagues he is responsible for ensuring that the University database of CAD drawings is maintained and regularly up-dated.  Currently he is reviewing  all hard copy plans and where appropriate converting them to CAD drawings so that all future university record drawings will be held electronically.  Grant is a very experienced CAD technician and offers a full CAD technical support service to the maintenance team, minor works and the capital projects team within estates.

Sian Thomas

Sian Thomas - Estates Assistant
Sian is responsible for maintaining accurate space records for the University.  Sian is actively involved in improving the physical accessibility of the estate for disabled staff and students and is responsible for the Estates accessibility web pages. Sian co-ordinates the Estates Access Consultation Group and is involved in the Universities external signage scheme.
