Location and Directions
Travelling to the Wolfson Centre
From Park Place, at the final set of traffic lights, turn left into Stuttgarter Strasse which becomes Dumfries Place and, after passing under the railway bridge, Newport Road. Turn left into West Grove and left again into The Parade for entrance to the School of Engineering. Please call in at the porter’s lodge for registration and directions to the Wolfson Centre.
Car Parking at the Wolfson Centre
Parking must be arranged in advance, speak to your contact within the Wolfson Centre to do so.
Should you experience any difficulty NCP car parks are conveniently located for the School of Engineering at Dumfries Place and Fitzalan Place - please follow link for details.
Conference Parking
There are two neighbouring parking areas within close proximity of The School of Engineering - Senghenydd Road and Cranbrook Street car parks.
From Park Place, at the traffic lights, turn into St. Andrews Place. Through the traffic lights and a few metres after passing under the railways bridge, turn sharp left into Senghennydd Road. Take the turning left after the School of Mathematics and turn left at the T-junction. Follow the road parallel to the rail line down to reception.
The School of Engineering can be reached by following the foot path via the foot bridge across the railway. Please call in at the Trevithick porter’s lodge for directions to the Wolfson Centre (or follow the signs put up for events).
University Accommodation Parking
For participants staying at number 1 Senghennydd Road Hall of residence, car parking is available at the hall of residence.
Short Term Visitor Parking
For participants attending on a daily basis limited car parking is available in the Trevithick buildings car park in the School of Engineering. Please speak to your contact within the Wolfson Centre to make arrangements in advance.
Travelling to Cardiff
By Air
Cardiff International Airport is 11 miles from the city centre. See www.cwlfly.com.
National Express (Enquiries Tel: 08705 808080) coach company and various rail companies (Enquiries tel: 08457 484950) operate direct services to Cardiff Central Station from London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

By Rail
High speed InterCity trains provide frequent services between all major British cities. The Cardiff-London InterCity service, from London Paddington, runs some seventeen times a day, with a journey time of less than two hours.
Frequent regional network trains connect Cardiff with:
- Bristol (50 mins)
- Birmingham (2 hrs 10 mins)
- Southampton (2 hrs 30 mins)
- Manchester (3 hrs)
- Liverpool (3 hrs)
and with many other cities and towns.
From Cardiff Central Station there is a frequent train service which stops at Cathays Station, located on the campus (Enquiries: 08457 484950). There are also bus services: the No 27 service leaves from stand D3 in front of Cardiff Central Station, and the No 53 service leaves from nearby Westgate Street (Enquiries: 0870 6082608).
By Road
Cardiff is served by the M4 and is easily accessible from all parts of Britain.
From the south west, take the M5 and from the south of England, follow major A roads to the M4.
From Scotland, the north of England and the Midlands, travel via the M50 to the M4.
Travelling east on the M4. Leave the motorway at Junction 32, follow the A470, signposted City Centre, into the Cathays area of the city.
Travelling west on the M4. Leave the motorway at Junction 29, follow the A48(M)/A48, signposted Cardiff East and South, to the A470. Follow the A470, signposted City Centre, into the Cathays area of the city.
Car Parking
Car parking in University car parks is extremely limited and a permit is required. However, there are several short and long stay public car parks located close to the University, all of which are marked on the University and City Centre map.
There is also car parking available within the civic centre (along College Road, City Hall Road, King Edward VII Avenue and Museum Avenue) where a voucher system operates. Vouchers are available from local shops, the University Union Shop (map ref. 38), Bute Building Reception (map ref. 45), Park Place Fitness and Racquets Centre (map ref. 34) and the National Museum and Gallery of Wales.
